How to map a network drive to the shared data folder in Windows 7, Windows 8 (8.1), Windows 10, or Windows 11

Note: Sage 50 uses Name Resolution; therefore mapping by Server IP Address is not recommended not supported.

Note: If the server's data path was not shared correctly, you may encounter errors about Invalid Company Data location.

Section 1: Windows 10 and 11

  1. Press Windows+E keys, and then select This PC
  2. Click Map Network Drive along the top menu
  3. Select desired drive letter, and then click Browse
  4. Select the computer to map to along with the shared folder, and then click OK
  5. Click Finish

Section 2: Windows 8 and 8.1

Note: Microsoft stopped all support for Windows 8 in January 2016, and support for Windows 8.1 will end on January 10, 2023. It is recommended that you upgrade to a Operating System that is still supported by Microsoft. Ie. Windows 10, Windows 11. Contact Local IT for OS upgrade.

  1. From the Desktop double-click Computer icon
  2. Click Map Network Drive button from the standard toolbar, and then select Map Network Drive
  3. Select desired drive letter from Drive drop box
  4. Click Browse button next to the Folder field, and then select shared network folder; otherwise if you know the folder or drive, you can type it directly into the Folder text box
  5. Select Reconnect at sign in
  6. If prompted, enter the login credentials to access the folder
  7. Click Finish

Section 3: Windows 7

Note: Microsoft stopped all support for Windows 7 in January 2020, it is recommended that you upgrade to an Operating System that is still supported by Microsoft. Ie. Windows 10, Windows 11. Contact Local IT for OS upgrade.

  1. On the keyboard, press Windows+R keys
  2. Enter \\server name (replacing server name with your server's computer name), and then click OK
  3. If prompted for a password, refer to When I browse to the server I am prompted for a password
  4. Right-click Peachtree folder (shared folder), and then click Map network drive
  5. Select a Drive letter, making sure Reconnect at login is selected, and then click Finish
