CAUTION: Use caution when working with the below product functionality. Always create a backup of your data before proceeding with advanced solutions. If necessary, seek the assistance of a qualified Sage business partner, network administrator, or Sage customer support analyst.

Method 1: Check for Product updates through Sage program

  1. Select Help, and then select Check for Product Updates.
  2. If there is an update for your software, it will state that the program is downloading in the background and will ask you to update when you exit your program.
  3. Let the program download in the background.
  4. Close Sage 50.

Method 2: Manually run the automatic Downloaded update

  • The default download folder location for the updates is:
    • For Windows 8, and Windows 10: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Sage Software\Simply Accounting\Downloads
  • All the files in this folder have a file name like SA_[Version and Release]CPUP1.exe. For example:
    • Sage 50 2022 Canadian full version upgrade filename is: SA_20220CP1.exe
    • Sage50 2021 Release 2 Canadian version update filename is: SA_20212CPUUP1.exe
    • Sage 50 2020 Release 2 Canadian version update is: SA_20202CPUP1.exe
  • Refer to How do I manually download and install updates?

Method 3: Turn off User Account Control (UAC)

Note: Disabling UAC can make your system more vulnerable. Make sure you turn on UAC after the installation completes

Windows 10:

  1. Select Start. In the search field, type UAC.
  2. Click "Change User Account Control settings." Move slider down to Never Notify.
  3. Click OK and then restart the computer.

Windows 8:

Method 4: Update did not fully download

  1. Check for incorrect update file size.
  2. Go to the update default directory and verify the file size is incorrect, refer to What are the default download folders for Sage 50 Canadian Edition Payroll/Product update?
