Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

Follow the steps below to install a Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (CRE) update on the server, to upgrade the company data, and install the update on workstations. Note : If you install any other Sage 300 products after the update, you will need to apply all other updates as needed

Resolution

  1. Preparation

Before installing the update:

  1. Download the update

    1. Click the link on the Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate: Download Portal page that contains the update
    2. When the File Download window appears, click Save
    3. In the Save As window, select a temporary location to save the file, and click Save
Note: This location must be available to all workstations where you have Sage 300 CRE installed. For example, create a folder named Update (if it does not exist) under C:\ProgramData\Sage\Timberline Office\9.5\. Save the file to that folder
    4. In the Download Complete window, click Close
  2. Install the update on the server

IMPORTANT! Do not begin the installation process until you are ready to install on the server and all workstations

  1. At the server or stand-alone computer, log on with full administrative rights
Note: Full administrative rights are defined as write access to the Windows registry and all the folders on the computer, including rights to the root of all hard disks. If you are unsure whether you have full administrative rights, ask your network administrator for assistance. Alternately, you can ask your network administrator to log on with the network administrator ID before you start the installation
  2. Close all Sage and all Microsoft Office applications at the server and on all workstations.
  3. Browse to the location where you saved the file in step 3 of the Download the Update section above
  4. Double-click .exe you downloaded only once
Note: The update may take several minutes
  5. If you receive a security warning click Run or Allow
  6. When the Ready to install window appears, click OK
  7. When the message This update has been installed successfully appears, click OK
  8. Reboot the server
    • Note: If you cannot reboot the server and you use Sage MyAssistant, you must start or restart the MyAssistant services for tasks and email notifications to work. For detailed steps, refer to Error: "The following processes are running: ISDAdminService.exe"

  1. Upgrade the data

  • For optimal performance, Sage recommends that the upgrade takes place on the server
  • Perform the Upgrade Files process after you have applied the update at the server.
  • If you prefer to begin the upgrade process from a workstation, make sure you apply the update to both the server and the workstation before beginning
  1. Go to Desktop, Applications, Common Tasks, Tools, Upgrade Files
  2. In the Do you have a current backup of your data folders window, click Yes
  3. Select to upgrade the current data folder or all data folders:
    • Select Current data folder to upgrade files in the data folder in which you currently work
    • Select All data folders to upgrade files in all data folders that display in the Open Data Folder window
NOTE: This may include data folders on other drives. With this option, if you have several data folders, the upgrade process can take a long time
  4. From the Files list, select all files
    • Do not select the Force file upgrade check box to ensure you are upgrading only files requiring an upgrade
  5. Click Start
  6. In the Print File Selection window for File name, type a name for the upgrade report file and click Save. The upgrade process will begin in the background
  7. When the process is complete, review the upgrade report

  1. Install the update on each workstation

Update each workstation where you installed Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:

  4. Double-click .exe file only once
Note: The update may take several minutes.
  5. If you receive a security warning, click Run or Allow
  6. When the Ready to install window appears, click OK
  7. When the message This update has been installed successfully appears, click OK
  8. Reboot the workstation
  9. Repeat steps 1 through 8 at each workstation where you installed Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate
